Interview with Cathy Schock

Interview with Catherine Schock a prophetic Artist from Ohio
Thy Kingdom Come by Catherine Schock

Alison: Hi Catherine whereabouts are you based?

Catherine: I am based in my personal Art Studio at home...
2186 Township Road 232
Van Buren, Ohio 45889

and where did you grow up?

Catherine: I grew up in Medway, Ohio and Fairborn, Ohio ( close to Dayton area).

were you arty when younger? if so in what ways did you find an outlet for your creativity when younger?

Catherine:: yes, I was arty when I was younger and in 6th grade would do kids portraits on small pieces of paper! But at that time I truly believed anyone could do portraits. However later, the Lord spoke to me about praying for that person as I painted the person. So I began to look at my work differently and realized this is a ministry too!!! My mother was an accomplished watercolorist but I did not enjoy or understand the nature of watercolor. I would accompany her to their local meetings in Fairborn. Later during college days is when I began to explore more painting in oils, pottery spinning and writing poetry!

who/what are your inspirations?

Catherine: My grandmother, Catarina Princiotta DiGiorgio from Italy, who did gardening and raised 7 kids was an amazing woman of Grace. I would write her letters of my adventures with my young children and my aunt would translate them for her. She spoke very little English but she sure loved me and always inspired me positively! Also, my mother helped to support me later as I was raising my family in the arts and still to this day!!! She will be 86 in April 2011.
She no longer does artwork as she had a stroke 2 1/2 yrs. ago. Bu in 2006, Holy Spirit inspired me by meeting me in my studio from 7:30 pm - 2:30 am. My Art has never been the same from His encounter! Seeing visions and then painting them or sensing a theme the Lord would have is an AMAZING adventure for me!!!!! I am exprecting more lives to change, to receive healing and be restored fully!!!!

when you paint, do you listen to music at the same time, if so what type?

Catherine: Most of the time I listen to music but mainly I need "to feel the anointing" and the presence of the Lord. Softer, more personal, freestyle, passionate "from the heart" kind of music, I am drawn to.

have you ever done a live painting within a church or conference? if so what were your thoughts the first time you got asked to do it? nervous? apprehensive or confident etc. How did God help you in this process?

Catherine: Yes, many times. Recently, I was asked to come to a wedding and paint prophetically in Lima, Ohio in June 2011...my first wedding though. The very first time was in Charlotte, NC at a dance conference in June 2006. I was extremely frightened until my dance leader at that time reassured me God has not left me or forsaken me. I simply stood trusting and facing FEAR with tears welling up. This experience was the first time, I saw and heard the lady as she strum one note on the violin, I saw in the Spirit that note go with the speed of sound directly to the throne of God!!! I knew then, something unusual was happening and my fears began to get less. I could feel the atmosphere shift into a different place of worship. The Lord spoke that I no longer was to use blues but shift to oranges, reds and yellows for fire. I told the Lord they were singing about the rivers of Living water, but He continued to draw me to use the warmer colors. So as I began placing them on the canvas, I began to hear them singing about "Fire." He deepened my trust level of His Great Love and Kindness and was glad to report, being led by the Good Shepherd!!! I sometimes still get a little nervous but I remind God, He has taken my heart, my will, my spirit and my mind and I choose to walk by FAITH as I TRUST Him!!!!

Where do you do your paintings? describe your studio/working space?

Catherine: I do my paintings in my studio upstairs in my home. There are 3 skylights, with a woodburning stove, tile and linoleum in medium brown tones, and a small bathroom as well. Now there are approximately 7 easels with a huge chair and gold fabric laying on it to reresent the Throne of God and a flame plugged in with lighted fabric. This reminds me of the passion and fire of God waiting for me to create expressions from His Heart to Mine and vice versa. I also have a small TV, which can play any DVD/CD's. There is a small bookcase and open shelves holding other books and magazines I share with others. There are currently 7 youth and 5 adults sharing sessions of "How Great Thou Art" that I host in prayer for worship and creating.
can you share a little about your workshops?

Catherine: I prefer to use the word sessions rather than workshops as I desire to create a fun and safe environment for children as well as adults during the times we share.  Usually start out welcoming each one, pray, invite Holy Spirit, read Scripture, and use props for fun... like maybe blowing bubbles to relieve stress, etc. (don't run out of ideas much...hee-hee!!!).  We are currently doing Psalm 91 in conjunction with National Day of Prayer for May 5, 2011. That is their theme this year and will use their artwork as a fund raiser with cards, bookmarks and working on T-shirts to sell.  Then I give assignments and sometimes homework as well.  I pray for each one and place their names in Psalm 91 during the week and try to pray about 45-minutes to an hour before they come!!!
One young lady is a writer and she will create an expression in writing.  Most paint or draw or use pastels.  I would like to expand it to gardening, clay, and writing and/or singing music.  Perhaps cooking and sewing.  One lady actually uses sign language. The Lord continues to draw those He is setting apart for them to receive more healing through their expressions and hope as well as joy and encouragement!!!   But I believe as the people are being built up in the Body of Christ, Yeshua, their lives and creations will spill over into others lives to bring healing, joy, and encouragement.  People have been e-mailing and/or phoning me!  I trust the Lord to each precious one to pray for and minister to as He leads in the Spirit!!!  This is a walk I would not trade!  Thank you Lord for these precious lives to love and sow into!!!!!!

What materials do you use?

Catherine: I use personally Oils and pastels with colored pencils.

Do you use an easel? if so what type?

Catherine: Yes, I use an easel. When I travel, I use a lightweight one called, Premier Easel. I like this one not only because it is retractable but also because it has re-inforcemnets in the tripod area with three legs to stand stronger in case, a child runs by too quickly or the wind may try to blow it down. It can be anchored easily if need be. I usually use a wooden easel in my studio.
Also, for your information, the name of the piece I first did in Charlotte was called "He Sends Them Out." I describe the experience on my website in the Christian category. The fire is actually putting out the water, rather than the other way around... referring to the Scripture, when the Lord sent His Consuming Fire to answer Ezekiel's prayers in contrast to all the pagan gods. Greater is He in us than he that is in the world... He sends us out, Here I am Lord send me.Alison: Thank you so much for telling us about your work Catherine, if you would like to visit Catherines website, please visit this link: http://www.artofmybeloved.com/
